ICACD Overview
“Those who ignore culture are
doomed to failure in Africa. Those who understand
culture can find new ways to succeed.”
—Commission For Africa Report (2005)
Africa’s slow pace of growth and development is one
of the most disturbing realities of our time. Over the
years, there have been several attempts from local and
international circles to draw and implement workable
programs and policies that will spark-off the
development of the African continent. It is interesting to note however that, in all the
programs intended to ignite Africa’s development,
culture and the way of life of Africans has been a
missing ingredient and that may explain why these
programs did not yield the intended results. It is therefore imperative that, further research and
exchange of ideas are conducted to identify how the
social and cultural institutions of Africa can support
African political institutions to bring about the
desired change in Africa. |
